Apunta't a LibraryThing per saber si aquest llibre et pot agradar. No hi ha cap discussió a Converses sobre aquesta obra. I enjoyed this much anticipated book. I love the characters and enjoyed the twists and turns. ( ) Wow, I'm finally done with this series! I wasn't sure if I would actually ever finish this one. This book (like the first two in the series) is very slow. Things pick up towards the end and get more interesting once you get closer to the fight, but for most of this book, it felt very slow. There were also some things that happened that made it seem like they were put in, just to fill space and build up the ending. I didn't see a point to them (I'll talk about this more in the spoiler section). While the endings are always the best part, I'm not sure if it's enough to make up for the rest of the book/series. Overall, the series was ok, but unfortunately not too memorable and not one I would be interested in re-reading any time soon. SPOILER SECTION!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!! So one part at the end that I felt was a filler and didn't really need to happen was Diana going to the congregation and asking them for help to stop/take down Ben and rescue Matthew. When it came time to actually take down Knox and defeat Ben and save Matthew, Diana pretty much did all that herself. Now that she has the Book of Life in her, she seems 10x more powerful than ever (and she was already pretty powerful before). So why exactly did she need to go to the congregation for help? Was she unsure of her power? Were they supposed to be back up just in case something went wrong? I just didn't see the point of it, other than now, Diana is going to be the one leading the congregation but we could have found that out later on. Another thing I'll say is I wished the battle with Ben would have lasted longer. The story builds up to this moment and then it's over in less than 5 min. I get that Diana is super powerful now and can end things quickly, but I still would have liked to see more of a struggle. I'm not sure what happened with this third book. I really liked the first two but this one just dragged until the last third. I read the first two and listened to this one so maybe it was that I couldn't skim the less interesting part. Whatever the reason, I did not find this one as entertaining as the first two in the series! Pertany a aquestes sèriesAll Souls (3) Contingut aTé una guia de referència/complementPremisDistincions
"After traveling through time in Shadow of Night, the second book in Deborah Harkness's enchanting series, historian and witch Diana Bishop and vampire scientist Matthew Clairmont return to the present to face new crises and old enemies. At Matthew's ancestral home at Sept-Tours, they reunite with the cast of characters from A Discovery of Witches--with one significant exception. But the real threat to their future has yet to be revealed, and when it is, the search for Ashmole 782 and its missing pages takes on even more urgency. In the trilogy's final volume, Harkness deepens her themes of power and passion, family and caring, past deeds and their present consequences. In ancestral homes and university laboratories, using ancient knowledge and modern science, from the hills of the Auvergne to the palaces of Venice and beyond, the couple at last learn what the witches discovered so many centuries ago"-- No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |
