Nineteen year old found in a cult? That could be tricky. But, as usual, I let good reviews sway me. That, as it turns out, was a mistake. I felt creeped out often. Savannah could have been an adult at 19, but the hero insisted on treating her like a child, which made his lust for her unsettling at best. The narrative was not well developed, the plot was shallow, and the characters were somewhat transparent. I was skipping through pages early on, and finally after the first sexual encounter skipped to the end. She's small, vulnerable, childlike, and likes to cook. She grew up in a cult so was very sheltered, I get it, big bad world out there and all.
He meet her when he was raiding her commune and INSTANTLY had a boner for her. Then precedes to have a very daddy relationship with her.
I'm not big on insta-lust trying to be masked as love and I don't like pwoor wittle me characters that don't grow; plus there is just nothing happening.
I loathe not finishing a book but for my sanity, I just have to.
This is new adult at its most new adult. I've read reviews where people were a fan so maybe it could be for you but unfortunately its just not my taste.
