AMAZING i love rainbow rowell's writing so much but WHAT WAS THAT ENDING? I NEED MORE LEVI ( ![]() Overall I enjoyed this book. It gave you the warm and fuzzies. But to me, the beginning felt a little too slow and the ending felt a little compressed and rushed. That could have been intentional but that was my opinion. I liked Rainbow Rowell’s book ‘Eleanor & Park’ so much that god was a bit anxious starting ‘Fangirl’ because I thought it couldn’t possibly be as good. I needn’t have worried. ‘Fangirl’ is a wonderful coming of age story filled with believable characters and great dialogue. The twist of having the protagonist write fanfiction works brilliantly, and the fictional characters she creates new stories for become almost as important as the real ones in the book. The romantic elements of the story are just as convincing and sensitively handled as those in ‘Eleanor & Park’ and one scene in particular is memorably lovely. Rowell is a really good writer, able to throw light on common human experiences without seeming preachy about it, in ‘Fangirl’ she captures perfectly the dizzying feeling of leaving home for the first time, and the modern phenomenon of the gulf that often exists between online and real life personas. Funny, touching and splendidly readable, this is a book that I absolutely fell in love with. This was ok but to be honest, it wasn't fantastic, I didn't truly feel for the characters, maybe it's because I read the Simon Snow trilogy already. Nothing special really happened. Its a short book, a light read where you don't have to focus too hard but afterwards, I felt nothing memorable happened. Loved, loved, loved this book, maybe more than Eleanor and Park. I don't know what Rainbow Rowell is eating or taking but she just has "it!" The woman can write such real dialogue and describe love, turmoil, anxiety, doubt, the range of human emotions perfectly and authentically.
