Abstract: A collection of papers presents the relationship of sodium and health. Funded by the Salt Institute and the Water Quality Association, the research papers include: the absorption and transport of sodium in the body; sodium excretion; sodium in clinical medicine; sodium and hypertension; sodium chloride in pediatrics; sodium and adaptation to high environmental temperatures, work and athletics; sodium and surgical patients; and sodium, soft water and cardiovascular health. A summary and conclusions are presented. (rkm).
