Very difficult book to read for all the abuse, but all together a well written novel. The main character was well developed and a bit dark for my taste. I did wish for more information about a background into Xander's parentage, maybe another novel? ( )

This is one of the most unique takes on the paranormal genre that we have regarding vampires, shapeshifters, etc... The author has done an amazing job regarding this book. You feel sympathy, empathy, anger, sadness, retribution, and happiness when Xander feels it. It is a WOW read! This book is not your sparkly vampires, it is what true vampires would be like with the grotesque, intriguing, and dark nature of being who they are. This book has no sugar coating over the dark and bloody scenes so beware! The author has enchanting and amazing story that I love and can't wait to read more! This book was not my normal read but I'm in love with Xander and can't wait to read more!

The story is about Xander who is not your normal average teen. He has some magical abilities and lives with his grandmother. His parents are gone. He has a "special" friend named Trepis only he can seem to hear and talk to. School is just a torture for him since he is called a freak and gets bet up. He has a ritual every night with Yin and Yang that he hopes will alleviate his suffering. After he loses his grandma, everything changes and he is plunged in a world that he never thought possible. He has always thought himself different and he finds out why he is so with the help of Stan, Marcus, and Depok. He will come into his future and destiny. Will the evil that tainted his past destroy him or will he overcome? I give this book a 5 STARS!!!! ( )

I couldn’t wait to download this book by Mr. Squiers and when opportunity knocked, I opened his book. His writing technique is so fluent and well said I was trapped in not wanting any escape plan at all. I think it’s our win for having the chance to read his works. What a priveledge as a follower of his work to get to read. This is a definite must read and your loss if you don’t.
Zander doesn’t have the happiest life when the one person he loves dies and he wants to join her. He plans it out and executes it every night wondering if it will be his last night on earth. But when something happens to change things for him, will he change his thoughts? This was a great job Mr. Squiers. You are the best. ( )
