Lissie flouts her family's values, conforms to the freedom of the nineteen-sixties, leaves school and heads for foreign countries. When she returns she finds that she is not the only one who has changed. Her parents are divorced and her father is in love with another woman, but Lissie is not ready to accept for them the clear-cut rights she sees for herself. Nor is her father able to understand his daughter.--from jacket. No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |

I picked up this book at the Lifeline Bookfest last weekend and said "looks interesting" but I didn't know what to expect. I started reading it on Friday and just could not put it down.
While I think it fairly balances the POVs of the father and daughter, I like the way it focuses on the father, as the title implies. A nice look at the world that was in the late 60s, and how it hit the parents and children.
I could see a lot of myself in Lissie, not the drugs or anything but the insatiable wanderlust. It doesn't take much more than "would you like to go..." to get me to consider a trip, and I can't imagine what I'd have done if I lived back then. Would I have gone to Europe and Asia? Would I have stayed in the US?
A great read for anyone interested in the father/daughter relationship/anyone who loves to travel/anyone curious in the life and culture of the late 60s.
One of the best books I've read in a long time. ( )
