What if a fascinating stranger knew you better than you know yourself? When her husband comes home with a farfetched story about eating dinner with someone he believes to be Jesus, Mattie Cominsky thinks this may signal the end of her shaky marriage. Convinced that Nick is, at best, turning into a religious nut, the self-described agnostic hopes that a quick business trip will give her time to think things through. On board the plane, Mattie strikes up a conversation with a fellow passenger. When she discovers their shared scorn for religion, she confides her frustration over her husband's recent conversion. The stranger suggests that perhaps her husband isn't seeking religion but true spiritual connection, an idea that prompts her to reflect on her own search for fulfillment. As their conversation turns to issues of spiritual longing and deeper questions about the nature of God, Mattie finds herself increasingly drawn to this insightful stranger. But when the discussion unexpectedly turns personal, touching on things she's never told anyone, Mattie is startled and disturbed. Who is this man who seems to peer straight into her soul?… (més)

Loved it as much as Dinner with a Perfect Stranger. You just have to listen to hear God. ( )

A very quick read about a woman struggling with her husband's new found religion and her lack of religion. The book is played out on her conversations during a business trip flight. This is a sequal book and I didn't read Dinner With a Perfect Stranger but I'm assuming it's the same message. Typical discussion between believers and non believers. Glad it wasn't any longer. ( )

This is a worthy sequel to the first book - Dinner with a Perfect Stranger. However, it is still a sequel and suffers from some of the stereotypes that sequels are often inflicted with. Frankly, it's not as good. It's still enough to hold the reader's interest, to be sure, but I found some of the dialogue a little leading and, especially in the latter chapters, a little unrealistic. The first half of the book does a great job being conversational, but as the book draws to a close, Gregory almost just comes out and says what he wants the reader to infer. He has Mattie ask the questions he wants her to ask and the book loses some of it's conversational tone as a result. I'd go so far as to say the last half of the book feels rushed. ( )

This is an awesome sequel to "Dinner with a Perfect Stranger". However it is Nick's wife, Mattie who becomes involved in a conversation with Jesus while on a business trip. As with the first book, Gregory does an outstanding job answering questions that are often asked, especially pertaining to relationships. It is a must read along with the first book. Both were very enjoyable, thought provoking, and invaluable! ( )

Mattie Cominsky views a business trip as a time to decide if she wants a divorce. She has no idea that a stranger she meets on the plane will help her make that choice.
