I think anyone that has seen an enormous pumpkin can appreciate this whimsical imagining of extra-large pumpkins. The narrator of this unusual picture-book tour of iconic American sites invites the reader to play a game in which they imagine gigantic pumpkins in all sorts of unlikely places. "How big could your pumpkin grow," the title and text here ask, as the book goes on to describe and depict massive pumpkins dominating such things as the Brooklyn Bridge or Mount Rushmore. The final two-page spread gives more information about each locale, from a farm in Connecticut to an oil field in Texas, and the pumpkin-related activities popular there... Author/illustrator Wendell Minor takes a fairly silly premise in How Big Could Your Pumpkin Grow? - namely, the idea of gigantic pumpkins superimposed on famous places and structures - and uses it to create a book that is both entertaining and educational, inviting imaginative engagement from the reader and listener. The accompanying artwork is just lovely - colorful and full of fun. Recommended to all young pumpkin lovers, to those looking for unusual ways to introduce the idea of America's vastness and geographic diversity to very young children, and to Wendell Minor fans. This was a great book for children. It encourages children to use their imagination. It's about imagining giant pumpkins doing crazy things like being president or making a splash on top of a waterfall. The writing was interesting because on each page, an adjective describing the pumpkin was written really big, in a different color. The writing was also written in curves and along pictures, which made each page different than the next. A couple example were: "your GIGANTIC pumpkin could glow like the skyscrapers," and "would your giant pumpkin be boss in a JUMBO cowboy hat?" This made it more appealing to children because of the enthusiasm in the text. The illustrations on each page are bright and colorful, and describe the text. When the children in the story are using their pumpkins as boats, the picture shows them all sitting in pumpkins rowing. When the pumpkin is a lighthouse, the picture is a giant pumpkin sitting behind a lighthouse, with beams of light projecting onto the beach. This book is great for younger children to create an imagination. It's full of goofy jobs for a giant pumpkin. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya
