Ok so first a warning, this story is about the nightmares of Caitlin Lockyer from when she was kidnapped, raped, assaulted and abused some people may find this distressing.
I found some of the dialogue a little uncomfortable however I really liked Nathan and how he would do anything to keep Caitlin safe and he promised her he would be there. Yes his job was really to find out as much as possible about Caitlin's ordeal to get these people but he genuinely cared for her.
Almost every other chapter is Caitlin's nightmares, they do not make sense as it is bits and pieces as she remembers them but it is all valuable to the story.
I did enjoy the novel, there was nothing boring in it and it flowed well. I have bought book 2 so I can continue with the trilogy.

Dark, gritty, and captivating.

The Nightmares of Caitlin Lockyer is not for the faint of heart.

After saving Caitlin’s life from a group of sadistic torturers, a cop named Nathan sits at her bedside, desperate to keep his promise—that he would not leave her side. Caitlin is broken when she finally wakes, but the one thing that keeps her going is the fact that Nathan keeps his promise.

Caitlin’s memories, broken up throughout the book, are both chilling and realistic. Her nightmares always lead to her screaming for Nathan to save her. Every time he is by her side and as the days go on, she remembers more and more about what happened to her.

Even though this is the first book of a series, I felt as if this book could be read alone. However, there were a few questions I had left over. Hopefully, these are answered later on. I’ll definitely read on to find out. ( )

Received as a Library Thing Review Copy: Firstly full clarity - I live in Western Australia and in the capital city Perth and so I am positively biased towards any book/song/movie/TV show, that fights its way out of the West as our tiny population fights against the larger Australian and then the greater world population. The Nightmares of Caitlin Lockyer is not an overtly Western Australian book, but descriptions related to local places help place the horrors of Caitlin Lockyer's experiences onto the canvas of my peaceful city. Caitlin has been missing, her kidnapping appears to be similar to that of another woman a little older. They are both trainee doctors, the first woman was murdered when her family refused to pay a ransom. Caitlin is found on a beach, naked, raped frequently and comotose. Her nightmares have her crying out in her sleep in the hospital. Who did this to her, will they try again (yes), but why did they kidnap both women? This is a trilogy and one I will be buying because it appears that the three books will not so much follow on from each other, but interleave to provide the solution, Recommended but hard going and trigger warnings if the reader has issues with rape ( )

This is a dark and captivating tale of suspense. Going inside the mind of Nathan and sharing his thoughts really added much mystery to the murder of his sister.

I don't like Nathan & I don't care about Caitlin. She is raped & tortured but he only wants to have sex with her. The police let him stay around her when I'd be suspicious as hell. She heals faster than humanly possible. There is just so much wrong with this story. ( )
