Erik is color blind and this makes it difficult for some school work, such as, when problems written in yellow chalk on a green chalkboard or when textbook printed in different colors. Even in PE, he has trouble passing to the wrong team because the green and red sports vest all look the same. The number test, to determine color blindness, was shown in illustrations of the computer at home and eye doctor assessment. This book accurately describes how a kid with color blindness life is affected and how they diagnosis such a thing. This is done in a way children can understand and this book was interesting and it shocked me for I had never seen a children's book about this topic. It allows one more child to now see themselves on the page. Him painting his hair green rather than red was the turning point and I love at the end how he paints it blue and tells them to just call him Erik instead of Erik the red. There are many clearly stated ways to help these students or people with color blindness such as writing out the names of colors for color-coded assignments, printing questions in black and white, or writing with white chalk on green chalkboards. This book made me inspired to find more kid-friendly, fun, books about this topic or similar to make all children feel related to characters. ( ) Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya
Exuberant redhead Erik always tries his best, but he just can't understand why he's missing homework questions at school and messing up at soccer practice. Then one day in art class everyone notices that Erik's painted a picture of himself with green hair! It turns out he's not just creative, he's color blind, too. Color blindness, also known as Color Vision Deficiency (CVD), affects a significant percentage of the population. The tendency to color-code learning materials in classrooms can make it especially hard for kids with CVD. But once Erik is diagnosed, he and his parents, teachers, coach, and classmates figure out solutions that work with his unique way of seeing, and soon he's back on track.
