This edition of Shenandoah, the literary journal of Washington & Lee University, was devoted entirely as a tribute to the poet W.H. Auden. This issue is scarce and important because, in addition to containing 9 essays about Auden and his work, it contains 5 "tributes" (including one by M.F.K. Fisher), and 8 original poems written to Auden. The M.F.K. Fisher / W.H. Auden association is significant because, in the British edition of Fisher's omnibus The Art of Eating, published in 1963, Auden famously wrote "I do not know of anyone in the United States who writes better prose". That lofty statement was often quoted in tributes to Fisher and helped (in addition to the amazing quality of Fisher's writing, of course) to forge her reputation in the literary community. In addition to the tribute by Fisher, this volume contains original tributes by Robert Lowell, Louise Bogan, John Betjeman, and Leanard Bernstein; as well as original poems in tribute to Auden by Anan Ansen, Roy Fuller, Geoffrey Grigson (husband of famed English food writer Jane Grigson), George Nitchie, Stephen Spender, Edmund Wilson & Louise Bogan, and J.R.R. Tolkien. Volume 18, Number 2, Winter 1967. The Fisher tribute appears on pp. 46-7. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya
