Finished. Finally.
You cannot imagine the sheer magnitude of my relief.

Five days. No, seriously, five days?
For me that's a red flag and an indicator of a not-so-great book.
(It takes me 2-3 days to read an interesting book of such length)
While I'm sure many praises will be sang by other people, I will not belong in their number.

Comparisons with Percy Jackson series aside, these books (the series) didn't completely work for me. I didn't feel as deep a connection as I ought to have had to really love these books (like Percy). Don't get me wrong, I liked them. But sometimes liking is not enough.

This book ties up all those pesky loose ends, yes. And yet...
To me it felt a bit... flat? anti-climatic? something else I can't quite put into words?
Maybe because the ending seemed (to me) a little idealistic. Yeah, sure, it's not quite, but it's dangerously close. THERE ARE STILL MONSTERS OUT THERE, GUYS!

Okay, the good stuff (spoiler-ish?):
- Leo - happy for you to bits! Fair winds!
- Nico - you were a star of this book IMHO, heck, of these series, you DESERVE happiness. GOOD LUCK! (you may as well be my other favourite demigod in these two series, now that you did some growing up)
- Reyna - I'll be honest here, did NOT expect to like you as much as I do. You deserve some happiness, not to mention some well-deserved do-nothing-ness with people who don't nag about your duties-&-etc.
- Coach Hedge - please continue to be awesome, best wishes to you and yours!


Basically, I only read this series because I (accidentally) got my hands on [b:The Son of Neptune|9520360|The Son of Neptune (The Heroes of Olympus, #2)|Rick Riordan|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1464201114l/9520360._SY75_.jpg|14406312] and read it and got obsessed with learning the whole story. This trait of mine forced me to finish some books I'm never going near ever again.

Which brings me to this point: I would not have suffered even the slightest bit (okay, maybe a bit because of Coach Hedge, Nico and Reyna) if I had skipped it. For me this series is optional and is NOT included into My Favourite Books List.
I'm pretty sure I will have forgotten most of the story in a month.

It's nice. But nice doesn't cut it for me.

To be completely honest I was sad there was so little Percy cause he is my favourite. Also I found the writing rather childish. But overall I enjoyed the story ( )
