I would highly recommend teachers/parents to read (and reread) this book BEFORE reading this to kids. Therefore you can talk directly to kids while introducing this to Hawaii.

Each page has a short paragraph on it. They have a nice index and timeline in the back of the book.

I really enjoyed this informational text. I learned a great deal about Hawaii thanks to this book. There was a great amount of pictures included, which made the reader feel like they are actually in Hawaii. The book touched on culture, food, geography, etc. It is a very good read for someone who does not know much about the state of Hawaii and would like to even travel their someday. The main idea of this book is to inform readers about the history of Hawaii and what makes Hawaii such a unique state. ( )
