Enter Peyton, a PA running from a bad relationship with her old boss, a cardiologist, and the last thing she wants is romance. She only wants a 3 month job to figure out what next. ( ) I was gifted three different Thunder Point novels and thought I'd gotten them in the correct order, but now I see that this is book 5. I don't know what the others are since the numbers aren't anywhere on the books that I could find. It does explain why I felt like there was such a large cast of characters that I couldn't keep track of who was who and who was related to who and how. I liked the story but wish it could have been told without the sex scenes. I was a bit surprised that Peyton would sleep with someone she wasn't serious about, especially coming off of her relationship with Ted. Thunder Point seems like a great little town. One where the residents care about each other and try to help each other out. Of course, this also means that it's easy for everyone to know other's business--the not so nice part of small town living if you want privacy. I think I related to Peyton's character because of a past experience with a guy I hoped would become a boyfriend. We were friends, but I later found out that he was hiding seeing someone else while using me to fund his business deals. Sort of keeping my hopes that he'd love me alive to use my resources to get what he wanted for himself. I felt that Ted's relationship with Peyton was sort of that way. I can also relate to how something like that changes a person, so I could see why Peyton was a bit leery at first when a new relationship comes up. 4.5 stars! This isn't a book or even a series that is going to make you laugh till your sides hurt or cry till you can't see straight BUT it is a series that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face and just plain make you feel good about yourself and about life every time you read one of them! The Promise is no exception! I devoured this book and loved catching up with previous characters and meeting new ones. The tender sweet moments between Scott and his kids are the best! And Peyton's family is pretty great too. Besides being a little repetitive at times it was a total win for me! Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya
