This book has few yet affective words. The author designated this book to teach young readers on where to speak loudly and where to speak in a whisper. This story follows a young blue dinosaur that has a loud voice, she is warned not to yell at her parents or sister. The book then says, "Be LOUD when you play outside." And in the end says, "Hum and chat and whisper. Use your inside voice." I significantly remember having to silence young campers because they always raised their voice. This would be a book a teacher could read to their students when she has seen patterns of not using their inside voices. ( )

The book has very simple descriptions and pictures that match what is said in the story. It starts out with examples of what the dinosaurs shouldn't do. It then goes to show things the dinosaurs can do: yelling outside, being quiet inside, etc. My students need to know examples and nonexamples in order to understand the expectations.

This is great for prek-1st. This cute story goes through how the dinosaur has to use his inside quiet voice while he is inside. This is a good book for teaching positive behavior and good manners. Very colorful! ( )
