Not sure how I feel about this one... ( )

Dogs aren't especially my thing, although I enjoy patting other people's when I meet them on the street. This is the story of a dog who is adopted into a good home, but hasn't quite gotten the hang of things. With other art it would have been fine, probably still better than average. But Tillotson's dog puts it over the top into adorable. Admire that cover. That is a dog with energy.

Go, read the book and squee. Keep a copy on hand to refer to whenever you hear bad news.

Shoe Dog is about a puppy who was chosen by an older lady at the animal shelter. The dog wanted a nice, real home that would take care of him. He didn't want a bone or an old toy or an old sock, he really liked shoes. He chewed up a bunch of shoes in the house and his owner wouldn't let him sleep in bed with him because he was a "bad dog". A new pair of shoes arrives at the house and shoe dog ate them. The owner was really mad at shoe dog then made him sleep downstairs. He was then a good dog for a while until a new pair of shoes arrived at the door. He chew up the shoes and was forced to sleep downstairs in the scary, cold, dark. One day when he was running around, he ran into a tower of shoes. The shoes crash all around him and he decides he will not chew the new shoe. Instead her finds shoe cat. He liked to lick and snuggle with shoe cat. The owner was really pleased with shoe dog because he wouldn't chew up any of her shoes again. He now has his own toy.

New dog really loves chewing up shoes. Adorable story with a fun twist. Great illustrations by Katherine Tillotson. ( )

This picture book is about a dog who loves to eat shoes and the owner does not like his shoe chewing addiction. I thought the book was cute for maybe a bed time story, but not for educational purposes. I did love the illustrations. ( )
