From my blog

Pamela Samuels Young has became an author I must read when she releases something new. I was even more excited to find this was a follow up to her book Buying Time, we get to have more from characters Angela and Dre in book 2 of the Angela Evans series.

A great heart wrenching race to the end while reading this action packed thriller. The bonus is we get statistics on child trafficking which makes the journey more frightening and real to read. Social media has put a whole new dangerous issue for parents to have to deal with. Brianna is 13 and excited to go and meet her secret boyfriend for the first time, only to be taken into the life of human sex trafficking.

Those that picked her up didn't do their due diligence this time and they now have to deal with her Uncle Dre trying to rescue her by putting their business at risk. He knows the streets as he was a drug dealer and he takes action into his own hands when police do not take the family serious. I enjoyed Dre's character before, his a man both women and men enjoy being around. He knew when to get off the streets because he was a businessman but he was also dealing with a businessman that paid others to get their hands dirty.

We also meet Loretha who used to be on the streets and now has a safe house for young girls on the street. I enjoyed her story, the protector of giving girls a way out but also helping them to be a witness against their pimps. Dre's ex girlfriend Angela, is a lawyer and helps with girls. Some consider them to just as bad as the pimps for being a prostitute but what we learn in the story is that these girls are sexually exploited children and manipulated.

The additional storylines were great, adding additional suspense to the puzzle. Even though I read this genre all the time and know how it will end, great authors spin enough to keep you on the edge of your seat and throw in the gut wrenching emotional punches.

You are touched by the story and want to help. They give you websites asking for you to consider donating time or financial support to stop human trafficking.

Such a great read, if you haven't read a book by Pamela Samuels Young, you must try her. ( )

This book grabbed my attention from the very first page, and didn't let me go until the last page, exhausted, trembling, and very emotional. I found myself dabbing my eyes with tissues; I could actually feel the anguish of Brianna's mother and uncle, as they searched for her. Anybody's Daughter tugged my heartstrings, and opened my eyes to a serious issue that is going on around us daily - human sex trafficking. It really made me think long and hard, because I have four nieces. (I will be buying them a copy, for them to read!) All through the book, the thought that it could be one of them really struck me!

This is a MUST READ for everyone with a daughter, niece, sister, granddaughter, goddaughter. This happens every day, in any town to young girls who think, "It can't happen to me, I'm way too smart for that!"

Pamela Samuels Young definitely brought her A-game when writing this book; I'm a fan for life!!! ( )

Brianna Walker, a thirteen year girl sneaks out of her house to meet a boyfriend she met on the Internet and is soon kidnapped for to be used in the sex trafficking world. Her Uncle Dre, a former drug dealer uses all his connections, anger and force to make get her back before it is too late. But will he?

This is a harsh story of reality and what it is like in a world most people don’t see or ignore. The sex trafficking of young girls has grown into a huge business and the author shows the reader the horror of it all. She also deals with the court system, halfway houses, dysfunctional families; all good subjects. The subplots make it even more fascinating. But with all that said, although I enjoyed the story, I felt there are some areas that seemed unbelievable and that it needed some more editing. That’s why I give it three stars as a good book. ( )

Does your thirteen year old daughter listen to you or does she consider you ‘overprotective’? That is how Brianna viewed her mother. Brianna had been communicating on Facebook with Jaden for about five weeks. She thinks she is in love with him. She plans to meet him but since her mom is so ‘overprotective’, she lies and tells her she is meeting with one of her friends. When she gets to the designated place to meet Jaden, it is too late to run; it is not Jaden! Now Brianna has been taken and her kidnappers are planning how she can make them more money by turning tricks.

Brianna’s father had died some years ago, so the two primary people in her life are her mother and her Uncle Dre (Andre). He would give his life for Brianna if it came to that. Dre had a criminal past and still has a few connections of his own that help him find the mastermind behind this foul operation, and ultimately find Brianna. After all, the police haven’t been much help.
This is the 2nd in the Angela Evans series. In Buying Time, she was involved with Dre, but broke it off, and now they are getting back together. As a lawyer, she is working legally to try to free girls like these from their pimps.

In the author’s note at the end of the book, Ms. Young said, “Without question, of all my books, Anybody’s Daughter was the most difficult for me to write.” It was difficult to read also as this is really scary. The author has a finger on the pulse of America as I’m afraid it is based on real life happenings. Anybody’s Daughter, about human trafficking, opens with a very fast pace, demanding your interest and full attention. I read the kindle version and there are a few grammatical errors. Also there was a bit of repetitious material, but the story moves forward never the less. I rated this 4 out of 5. ( )
