As an almost constantly broke student, this book has been a lifesaver. The recipes don't require many ingredients, but still have lots of flavor. They are also perfect for someone short on funds, and are easy to prepare. My only quibble is that the book uses quite a few meat substitutes, such as tofu and TVP (which I don't like to eat very much of). However, there are some fantastic vegetable-only dishes. It's also geared towards beginner cooks but as someone who hasn't really cooked much before, I am finding it invaluable. It really takes you step-by-step through everything you might need to know about preparing vegan food. ( )

Interesting book for young people interested in, as the title suggests, going vegan. It would also work for anyone who wants less meat and dairy in their diet. As a beginner book, the recipes are not terribly complicated. This doesn't mean that they are bland. Interesting ingredients like portabella mushrooms and non run of the mill spices, like chipotle, make for a basic book that is nonetheless worth owning. The author also provides great tips to the reader, like how how to pick a good mango or pineapple.
