This book is perfect for parents to read to their children. The writing is very funny, and extremely funny. This is one of the few books that made me laugh out loud by myself. The writing was predictable but enjoyable. For example, "Parents are tent poles for dens that are wonky, Dad is a horse, and mom is the donkey." While the writing is funny, the illustrations that accompany the words make the story. To use the same example, on one page there is a dad holding a sheet for his children's fort. The next page has three children riding on the back of their father, like a horse, with one of the children slipping off. Finally, the mom as a donkey is a series of pictures of things the child using slowly end up in the mother's possession, including the child. The big idea of this book is to love and appreciate your parents, because they do so much for you. ( )
