All Things India (46) » 7 més No hi ha cap discussió a Converses sobre aquesta obra. You live it all in this book and I couldn't. I just couldn't. Maybe that makes me earn the disapprobation of people who say I can't face real life. But there's enough horror and pain and tragedy in my life that to add more would be disabling. And I can't afford the empathetic side-effects. I saw the movie that was based on this book many years ago and didn't remember anything about it except that I liked it a lot. After I was a few chapters into the audio book, I started re-watching it and realized how different it was from the novel. I didn't finish my re-watch but I did just finish the book so I can't really comment on the differences but, wow, what a good book. There are some intense moments and a few bits that made me tear up - either with sadness or joy or relief. I'm happy I had the opportunity to listen to this book. I think parts of it will stay with me for a good long time. I'd give it 4.5 but rounded down on Goodreads because some of the flashback portions were difficult to figure out where they fell on the timeline. I longed to read this book ever since I found out that Slumdog Millionaire is an adaptation of a novel. I was not disappointed with the action-packed adventure of this book. The characters are well-described. You may find some scenes as scandalous or "not safe for work", so I have to warn you that it can be a heartbreaking read at times, especially that part in Taj Mahal. I'd probably cry out loud while watching the movie (thanks to the sound effects and good acting). Looking forward to watching it! Gallar sögunnar liggja helst í grunnri persónusköpun svo að ég náði litlum tengslum við sögupersónurnar og fann lítið til með þeim þrátt fyrir margvíslegar hörmungar. (
