I love everything about this classic, but I especially love the old book smell that my copy has. I know this has nothing to do with the book itself, but I think it's a testament to how a book that was published in 1947 can stand the test of time if it's written well enough. ( ) This is another very nostalgic book to me. I read this often as a child in school and out of school, the most nostalgic part is the cover of the book I will always remember the cover of this book. It is a French folk story about two hungry travelers arriving in a village looking for food and coming up with a unique solution when none of the villagers would feed them. A great retelling of an old story. Three soldiers make soup using water and stones. The villagers decide to contribute to the soup. Each villager contributes an ingredient to the soup creating a feast. I think this book would be great for Storytime. It teaches that we should be grateful for what we have.
