One of my pet peeves is when a book is admittedly "introductory" or "beginner" and the author uses that as an excuse for bad arguments - such is the case here. About 3/4 of this book is perfectly fine, introductory level explanation of the conservative Protestant view of Scripture. However, the argument for inerrancy is packed with all kinds of questionable assumptions. The "Jesus's View of Scripture" section is rife with arguments from silence and psychological counterfactuals. I agree with the conclusions, but the arguments are just inexcusably paltry! The well annotated bibliography at the end is what redeems this book from a 2/5 to a 3/5. ( )

This is a very good and readable work on the reliability of Scripture. It does a really nice job of showing how Christ regarded Scripture. ( )
