I enjoyed the story although I didn't especially like any of the characters. I did not guess "who dunnit. " A pleasant, although sometimes uncomfortable read. The discomfort came from the idea of the dying man controlling the mind of his ex girlfriend. ( )

This book is a paranormal thriller with a dash of romance. The story was not my usual choice but was interesting and kept me engaged until the end. Recommended read. ( )

Rory's life was always intense to say the least. She started her own cosmetics company, had a supermodel sister, movie star mom, and was engaged to a handsome artist, Junior Lara. Just when her life seemed to be going well, her sister was murdered and her fiance, Junior, left for dead. The police claim it was a murder/suicide scenario, except Junior ended up in a coma instead of dying. With her sister dead, and her fiance in a coma, Rory's life is shattered. Years later, Rory has picked up the pieces of her life and is once again in love and engaged. Just when she thought the horrible past was actually in the past, things slowly start to unravel. She starts to feel things and has such intense thoughts that make her senses come alive. She "feels" Junior and senses his thoughts and feelings, but hasn't seen him in 5 years. Junior's brother, Danny, is also extremely aware of Junior's thoughts and feelings and has plans to exonerate his brother, even if it's at Rory's expense.

The Night Visitor completely surprised me! I immediately got so involved in the story and I could hardly put it down. It was very well-written and all the little secrets and bits fit together like puzzle pieces. I'm quite impressed with Ms. Emley's writing style and she kept me glued to each and every page. Her characters go together hand in hand, each character meshing into their integral parts with ease. I absolutely loved this book, with the exception of the ending. I got all the way to the last page and was disappointed with the final ending. The story kind of faded away with a trickle and I expected a big bang ending. This is my first Dianne Emley book, but I'll most definitely be reading more of her work. I love being held at the edge of my seat and Ms. Emley kept me there!

Murder in La La Land. In The Night Visitor, Dianne Emley takes us into the flashy and trashy world of A-List Hollywood. The good, the bad, and the very ugly. Sex, drugs, and rock and roll as well as greed, corruption, jealousy, and a thirst for power and money infuse every page. This story will hook from the start and not let go. Highly recommended.

THE NIGHT VISITOR is a paranormal murder mystery taking place in L.A., Ca. The story involves the wealthy Langtry family and the working class Larr family. It uses the generic formula for murder mysteries, but is so well written you don't really mind. I would have liked to see more delineation from the paranormal aspect and the Larr family dynamics is only thing lacking for me. That said, the author manages to keep you guessing who the killer is until the end of the story. You think you know who the killer is, but they're revealed and you're taken by surprise. As you read you continue to find more and more layers to the mystery. One of the best things about this story, is that it shows you the lengths people go to protect the people they love, even to the point of making you hate them if it will keep you/them safe. ( )
