This book would be great for a guided reading group. It has many pictures, so students are able to understand it if they do not understand the text. The book also has many captions, so students can read that instead of the main text if they are at a lower reading level. The big idea of this book is to inform readers of the human body and all the components that sustain the human body. I enjoyed reading this book. I liked the extra facts included in the book. The illustrations enhance the text by connecting the facts with visuals for readers. While the text was describing the digestive system, there was a profile image of a person eating something and showed the path the food travels to get to your stomach to be digested. The language is descriptive, easy to read, and well organized. The book was written in the first person point of view, which made the reader feel apart in a way because it was a child talking to a child about their dat inside the human body. ( )
