The Devlin sisters rely on each other - but some things are just too painful to share, even when your sisters are your best friends . . . Mum-of-four Julie thought that if her family had more money, life would be easier. But now that they've inherited a fortune, her problems are only starting. Lawyer Louise is used to having life go exactly as she wants it to. So accepting that her little girl might not be everything she expected is beyond her. And former model Sophie can just about cope with getting older - that's until her ex-husband finds a younger model. All three women think that some battles are best fought alone. Maybe they need to think again . . . Praise for Sinéad Moriarty 'Sinéad Moriarty can bring readers from hilarity to heartbreak with great deftness.' Sunday Independent 'We loved Sinéad's latest read- touching, warm, funny and emotional. She has the gift of telling a very emotive story with grace and empathy.' Woman's Way 'Moving, disarmingly honest and at times laugh-out-loud funny.' Sunday Times… (més)

I loved this book. It was the perfect book for me because I love books that alternate between narrators. It takes place in Ireland where three sisters, Julie, Louise and Sophie are each having struggles of their own. Also throw in a younger brother, who can't seem to keep a job and at one point has his naked girlfriend mistakenly walk into his parents' room.

Julie is dealing with suddenly becoming wealthy after a dead aunt leaves her husband a large sum of money. She has a set of rambunctious triplets and another young son. Her husband has become obsessed with their new wealth and is always away from home and playing golf. Not to forget Julie's friend Marian, who starts a phone sex business.

Louise is a no nonsense lawyer with a 4 year old who loves to read books about birds. All of her family members can see that there is something going on with Clara. It's hard for Louise to wrap her mind around that her little girl might be on the autism spectrum.

Then there is Sophie. She's a single mother raising her nine year old daughter. Her ex-husband has found love with a much younger woman, whom her daughter is enamored with until a new baby shows up.

I definitely recommend the book and can't wait to read more by the author.

Thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author, Sinéad Moriarty, for a free electronic ARC of this novel. ( )

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This was a delightful and heartwarming story about three sisters and their families that I thoroughly enjoyed. Julie, Louise and Sophie all have three different personalities and each are facing struggles in their lives. These sisters come together to help each other out even though they are each struggling with their own problems.I love how Sinead Moriarty developes these characters and makes the reader love all three with their quirky personalities! This book was a pleasure to read! ( )

I received this from NetGalley to read and review. Up front, I will say that this really is not a book about secrets sisters keep, as the title implies. but rather focuses on opinions and issues facing the three sisters. Most of these are the normal issues faced every day by families and ordinary people, and the book’s merit comes from just this. In this book, each sister has her own set of circumstances and thus issues, events and situations that come out of them. I had not read the earlier book in the series, and, though this is definitely a stand-alone book, I think I would have probably enjoyed it more had I read the first book and been familiar with the characters and the settings. I am, after reading this one I am not really sure I will go back and read the first book or any others in the series or others by the same author. The book was well written. The characters were well developed. I just did not become particularly involved in these three sisters or their problems. The stories put forth by each in the chapters were okay, but not the type to keep me glued to the book to see what happened next. Also, I realize the author had to somehow conclude the book, but I found the ending a bit too pat and unrealistic, for my tastes. It would be nice if everything turned out perfectly, but, in life, that does not always happen, and we don’t always find resources to make things go just so for ourselves. It was also gratifying to see how the sisters stuck together, always being there for each other. Based on my own experience (I have three sisters of my own), I am, likewise, just not ready to accept that that is the way things happen in real life. Nevertheless, the book provided a good respite from my own life and some enjoyable reading during some long, hot summer days. I think the book would appeal to those who have read and enjoyed the first or other books in the series or for anyone looking for a nice, summer read. ( )

The Secrets Sisters Keep by Sinéad Moriarty is a book about family standing together through the good times and especially through the bad times. The siblings don't always share all their secrets, don't always agree, don't always get along, but do always stand by each other. This book deals with every day life and issues with characters that become real through the course of the book.
