Sempre ottime le illustrazioni (anche se questo tratto solo a matita mi piace un po' meno). nonfiction/travel memoir - Shenzhen, China, 1997ish - Caucasian Canadian (who lives in France) moves to Shenzhen for a year of so to oversee an animation studio. He relates amusing anecdotes about cultural differences but doesn't make much of an attempt to learn more about the people or empathize with them (partly due to translation difficulties, as this is before smart phones and google translate).
Delisle’s European drawing style applies a humorous veneer to what might otherwise be a rather grim tale. But it’s so clearly hand-drawn — the lines of the buildings, for example, aren’t quite straight — that it takes on a cartoony feel, providing the reader some distance.
