This book is about three friends who took a tour through the rain forest led by a trained tour guide. They had the opportunity to touch and feel everything they could without restrictions. They used different gadget to explore the rain forest which is home to millions of different animal species and plants. The central message of the story was that we should go out and explore the world. “In The Rainforest” gives the reader information about the various layers of the tropical rainforest itself. The reader also learns that it rains about 200 inches a year in an average rainforest. What I enjoyed most would be the conversation bubbles. These bubbles helped me see the journey the children and their teacher were on. This book also talks about the many animals that live in certain parts of the rainforest. Duke did a wonderful job of writing and illustrating this book, her images are very detailed with little notes here and there for the reader to gain even more knowledge from her text. Towards the end of the story, Duke informs her audience of the harsh reality that tropical rainforests are being cut down and destroyed by humans. This poses a question whether or not the reader wants to help save the rainforests. I think this book would be great for grades 3 and up, it enlightens students to the reality of the worlds beauty. With concepts like epiphyte, canopy, and emergent layer, this read-and-find-out science book provides lots of content. The best part of the book, and one most kids would relate to best is the section on ants, which makes readers appreciate these creatures for all they do. Speech bubbles, in which the kid characters exclaim about things they're discovering add a bit of fun. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya
