It's a good collection, and I like the art, but I am puzzled at the emphasis on diversity in the reviews -- there are a few rhymes from other countries, but almost everything in the book is British. I appreciate that the author made an effort, but I think she was less sucessful at bringing in multicultural rhymes than she wanted to be. ( ) This book contains a treasury of nursery rhymes from around the world. After learning about the importance of nursery rhymes in week 8, I can see why this would be important to have in the classroom. This book also has beautiful illustrations that accompany each nursery rhyme. The type of medium used in the illustrations change throughout the book, as well as the font that the rhymes are written in. I read online about it and it said that there were 77 illustrators that created artwork for this collection of poems. That is so cool! Another cool thing about this collection of poems is that even they are all translated to English, they still keep traits of the language that they came from, whether in the spelling or in the way the verse flows.
