A Study in Scarlet - I found this one fascinating. It was a good introduction to Holmes and Watson, their first adventure together. I also found it interesting that Doyle appealed to the masses at the time - a good part of the book takes place not in England, but in Utah! A good mystery.
The Sign of Four - again, Holmes and Watson take on a case with an international theme. This time, the foreign land is India and there is a huge treasure at stake! I think I enjoyed this one the most of all 3.
The Hound of the Baskervilles - this is a Holmes classic, but of the 3, I enjoyed it the least. It was not quite as mysterious as the previous two and by now, we're expecting Holmes to pull some factoids out of seemingly nowhere. This one also suffered a bit by a less exotic location and fewer characters, to the point where the perpetrator was obvious. ( )
