Neil Josten is out of time. He knew when he came to PSU he wouldn't survive the year, but with his death right around the corner he's got more reasons than ever to live.Befriending the Foxes was inadvisable. Kissing one is unthinkable. Neil should know better than to get involved with anyone this close to the end, but Andrew's never been the easiest person to walk away from. If they both say it doesn't mean anything, maybe Neil won't regret losing it, but the one person Neil can't lie to is himself. He's got promises to keep and a team to get to championships if he can just outrun Riko a little longer, but Riko's not the only monster in Neil's life. The truth might get them all killed-or be Neil's one shot at getting out of this alive.… (més)

"Fight because you don't know how to die quietly. Win because you don't know how to lose."

I enjoy this series so much it's hard to even write a review. The King's Men is so different from what we usually get from finales that sometimes you have to recalibrate your expectations.

This book has two climaxes. The breathing space between them seems like a post-canon fanfic. SO MUCH happens and you only really notice when you get to the end and look back at it. When you draw a line of the plot points through the series it's impressive how much of it is just in this last book. And it works!

The characters, as always, are the stars. All For the Game wouldn't still have a fanbase 10 years later if it weren't for them. I love that, while what's really relevant was tied up by the end, not everything suddenly works out at the same time because the author has to give everyone a happy ending and there's only 30 pages of plot left. The story is told, but many of them still have a lot to work out.

All For The Game is an incredible tale. It's not for everyone, and it's certainly unconventional, but I've never read something that felt so real (all that while keeping the most absurd chain of events). ( )

This is not a standalone book. You'll need to read [b:The Foxhole Court|17259690|The Foxhole Court (All for the Game, #1)|Nora Sakavic|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1358594228l/17259690._SX50_.jpg|23855134] first and then [b:The Raven King|18187013|The Raven King (All for the Game, #2)|Nora Sakavic|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1373489255l/18187013._SX50_.jpg|25571658]. This book completes the trilogy.

Honestly, if you've got this far, you're as sucked in to these characters' lives as I was, and in that 'must find out how it all ends' position.

By the end of this book I've barely slept or taken a break from reading since I started the first book in the series, and I was completely wowed by what the author had managed to achieve. I knew when I read them in July that they would be right up in the books I read for 2020. If I could have given this series more than five stars, I would have. I had the worst book hangover ever after reading this! What can you possibly read after this that would measure up?

The romance in the series is the slowest burning romance ever, and by the end of the first book you won't even be able to imagine the characters as a couple. It takes time for that relationship to develop, and I think it's incredibly well done. By the end of this book, you'll be satisfied with what the author has managed to achieve.

I highly recommend this series. It's dark, but it's so rewarding. And although none of the three books are standalone, as a trilogy it is complete. ( )

My roommate said I should read this, she didn't tell me it was going to be hell on wheels to my emotions. Yes there is a moment in the story where rape happens. I have never read a book yet to this date (35 years of reading) that has handled it so tactfully. She has this amazing way of just giving you just enough info let your brain do the rest! There is so much in this book that I loved that it out-ways the few sentences that are really hard. ( )

i feel about this like i felt about reviewing any way the wind blows -absolutely scatter brained. like i dont know how the fuck to manage all these emotions im riding its truly a lot

complaints and confusion first, since they're few yet thicc:

1) still, half the time i have absolutely no clue what the fuck is going on. im sure thats purposeful and neil josten is a harry potter in that they both suffer way too much and are completely unreliable narrators and are truly so oblivious that the fact that they're still alive is a complete miracle. but people just be saying shit and i dont know what the hell we're talking about. neil be like huh??? and im like huh??? and yeah everything clears up later but in the meantime im just stumbling and vibing

2) the entire premise of the trilogy is that andrew, a single, very short and very medicated teenager, is supposed to be enough of a threat to protect both kevin and neil from BOTH SEpARATE YET CONNECTED MAFIAS THAT ARE GOING AFTER THEM. this is ONE MAN. ONE TINY MAN. am i supposed to believe that he'd make ANY DIFFERENCE?? THEYD JUST KILL HIM TOO BOOBOO

3) kevin being straight just dont sit right with me im sorry fellas im gonna reject this one

4) raise your hand if you believe riko's ultimate whereabouts are he's a cashier at walmart for minimum wage for the rest of his life and watches kevin and jean and neil be pros and excellent

thats it. now onto the things that i love about it:

1) absolutely everything else. and honestly even the things im iffy about (see above) i kinda love. its really very ridiculous and you must simply accept it in your heart but once you do that its a vibe

the character development, the vibes. the whole ass non existent sport that iM HONESTLY KINDA INTO?? ME?? CAN YOU BELIEVE?? catch me actually having a good time while reading the game chapters. all of the characters the found family angle WYMACK BEING A DAD BOTH LITERAL AND FIGURATIVELY kevin day????? my honeybunch sugarplum pumpy umpy umpkin you're my sweetiepie whom i would die for i would take a bullet for kevin day and this is a threat. renee?? allison?? dan?? queens. absolute queens. MATT??? THE ONLY MAN THAT DESERVES RIGHTS. nicky is a literal labrador and aaron. well. aaron is an abrasive little bitch and i never truly connected with him but i feel like he wouldnt want me to connect anyway

AND LADIES AND GENTLEMEN. T H E M. andrew and neil truly live in my mind rent free this is one of those couples that i simply cannot let go of. YOU'RE A pIpE DREAM??? LEAVE ME THE FUCK ALONE DONT TOUCH ME I CANT DO THIS ANYMORE. i cannot be articulate around this topic because my brain simply wants to go AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA the reunion scene? i go FERAL. the cigarettes on the- jesus christ you know what im just gonna NOT because otherwise im gonna start crying right here and that's not very dignified of me.

anyways very dimensional well rounded characters and i know i just yelled about neil and andrew as an Item but also as individuals i just. chef's kiss. i love them so much. the growth???? andrew loving his therapist??? thats so fucking soft. neil coming to terms with the fact that he is loved and belongs??? no my heart. dude. like. DUDE.

a really interesting thing about them is that the books conceptually are super poetic and full of metaphors -the foxes, the ravens, the chess pieces, the game itself, the hallucinations, the butcher and the knives. everywhere you look theres a fuckin metaphor which makes for a super vivid, vibrant reading experience with so much imaginery but guess what!! the prose itself is so flat and mechanical!! what!! thats not a bad thing, its just STRANGE i had never read anything quite like this!! insane. absolutely insane. nora's rlly crazy for this one

also, mafia and murder and gay lacrosse. its a Mix i didn't expect to like necessarily AND YET. i am simply Obsessed. a jumbled review means my brain is jumbled and that means i am in love and would die for This. Them.

THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ( )

Even after a semester at Palmetto State University and a couple weeks practicing on the largest Exy stadium in the United States, Neil was still struck breathless by the Foxhole Court.
