Summary: This informational picture book asks readers to imagine what it could be like to wake up with animal feet and explores the feet of eight different animals. The descriptions of each animal foot is broken up into three parts: the description of the animal foot, a specific fact about the animal itself, and what a person would be able to do if he or she had that specific type of foot. The story ends by showing pictures of children and describing what they can do with their own feet. Personal Reaction: I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the illustrations. I read this book to a fifth-grade special education class, and the children absolutely loved it. After I finished reading the book, the children took turns describing which animal feet they would want to have and why. I think this book would be a wonderful asset to any classroom. Classroom Extension Ideas: 1. I could have the children write a short paragraph describing what kind of animal feet they would want to have and why. In addition, I could have pictures of each type of animal feet available for the children to choose from to glue to the bottom of the page. 2. I could have the students find facts on the web or in other books about the feet of an animal other than the ones in the book and have them write a short description similar to the ones included in the book.
