Bloodline Sorcerer Percival Endicott Whyborne and his husband Griffin Flaherty have enjoyed an unprecedented stretch of peace and quiet. Unfortunately, the calm is shattered by the arrival of a package from Griffin's brother Jack, who has uncovered a strange artifact while digging for gold in Alaska. The discovery of a previously unknown civilization could revive the career of their friend Dr. Christine Putnam-or it might kill them all, if the hints of dark sorcery surrounding the find are true. With Christine and her fiance Iskander, Whyborne and Griffin must journey to the farthest reaches of the arctic to stop an ancient evil from claiming the life of Griffin's brother. But in the rough mining camp of Hoarfrost, secrets fly as thickly as the snow, and Whyborne isn't the only sorcerer drawn by the rumors of magic. Amidst a wilderness of ice and stone, Griffin must either face his greatest fear-or lose everyone he loves.… (més)

Another great installment in a wonderful series, and an instant favorite!

Our adventurous trio got themselves in quite a pickle in this one. Things got really grim a couple of times, even though by now it’s perfectly obvious that none of them will ever come to any serious harm. It’s one of the reasons I’m addicted to this series - despite being so action-packed, it’s the quintessential comfort-read.

I loved how the friendship between Whyborne and Christine was addressed here. The way she decided to stay with him in the nest when she had an easy way out was everything. As far as I’m concerned, the two of them are #friendshipgoals.

Griffin’s POV was novel and added much to the story. Poor baby was put through the wringer, again. He just can’t get a break, can he. As always, his deepening relationship with Whyborne was one of the book’s strongest points. It’s amazing how, six full-length books and a couple of short stories in, Hawk still managed to keep their romance from going the slightest bit stale or boring.

Fantastic storyline (but that’s hardly new!); unexpected enemies and allies; startling discoveries; near-death experiences - in Hoarfrost, there’s that, and much more besides! ( )

This wasn't as emotionally impactful as some of them, but I enjoyed the adventure, and really like that Griffin is getting some POV chapters also! ( )

I have lots of feelings about this story. not all of them are positive. I want to write a longer review but the sun is shining and other stories are calling me.

still it read like an Indiana Jones movie. so if I don't review I will remember the feeling it gave me. ( )
