Five teens victimized by sex trafficking try to find their way to a new life in this "sincere and moving" (Booklist) companion to the #1 New York Times bestselling Tricks from Ellen Hopkins, author of Crank. In her bestselling novel, Tricks, Ellen Hopkins introduced us to five memorable characters tackling these enormous questions: Eden, the preacher's daughter who turns tricks in Vegas and is helped into a child prostitution rescue; Seth, the gay farm boy disowned by his father who finds himself without money or resources other than his own body; Whitney, the privileged kid coaxed into the life by a pimp and whose dreams are ruined in a heroin haze; Ginger, who runs away from home with her girlfriend and is arrested for soliciting an undercover cop; and Cody, whose gambling habit forces him into the life, but who is shot and left for dead. And now, in Traffick, these five are faced with the toughest question of all: Is there a way out? How these five teenagers face the aftermath of their decisions and experiences is the soul of this story that exposes the dark, ferocious underbelly of the child trafficking trade. Heartwrenching and hopeful, Traffick takes us on five separate but intertwined journeys through the painful challenges of recovery, rehabilitation, and renewal to forgiveness and love. All the way home.… (més)

I'd like to thank the publisher for providing me with an arc for this book. I was so excited to receive this book, as Ellen Hopkins is one of my favourite authors.
This was a quick read, as most of her books are, but still very deep, and like with all her books I felt connected to the characters and they were all very easy to identify with. I also really enjoyed how the first poem in each characters chapter was from a background characters POV, I feel like this added something more to the story.
I strongly suggest to anyone planning on reading this, to remember that its a sequel, and this one picks up soon after the last left us off, so I strongly urge you to reread Tricks before picking this up to familiarize yourself with the characters and plot again so you aren't so confused going into this one!
I was VERY skeptical about her releasing a sequel to Tricks, but I'm glad she did. The only problem I have, is that I felt that it was very rushed at the end, and I think with just another 50 or so pages I would have been totally satisfied, but that doesn't bother me enough to change my rating.
Basically, Ellen Hopkins has managed to write another incredible novel, and I strongly suggest you give it a read! ( )

Angst, Sex, and Drugs, oh my!
i expect nothing less from Ellen Hopkins. She is the one author i can always count to bring the hurt, pain, and darkness to a free verse novel
This is a sequel to [bc:Tricks|5510384|Tricks (Tricks, #1)|Ellen Hopkins|https://d2arxad8u2l0g7.cloudfront.net/books/1347236052s/5510384.jpg|5625827],which followed 5 characters from small towns who were looking for purpose and meaning in their teenage lives. They are all back for another round where we get to see how their lives fared and the events of the 1st one effects them as people. Without giving much away, i can say that at least one of the characters lives have all been changed. my big pet peeve is that the end of the book ends with way too many burning questions!! Ellen, when are you releasing a third novel?????? ( )

I didn't love it as much as some of her other books but it was nice to see what happened with these characters. I think I might have waited too long to continue. I only remembered some of their stories until the book was about 100 pages in. I love that I almost always forget that I'm reading poetry and not an actual novel. She highlights the struggles and calls out the dark underbelly of many issues for teens. I can't wait to see what she writes next. I'm always looking forward to her next book. ( )

In my opinion this is a great book that uses real stories about real people. Ellen Hopkins interviews people that have drug addictions and mental illnesses. This book Traffic is the sequel to tricks and it is real encounters people have had with drug trafficking and women that have been sold into sex trafficking. I really enjoyed this book because Hopkins uses descriptive language and while reading you feel like you are a fly on the wall in these lives of these people. The writing has a flow and is an easy read because the paragraphs are written as stanzas. Each page is typically a new story about someone different. The book is about 400 pages long and each story is someone’s experience. Even though the stanza was on a page or two it had a beginning, a middle, and an end. You were not left with suspense with most occasions. I did want to know more about each person and wondered what else they have been through. Overall this book was a great read and I would like to read more by Ellen Hopkins and possibly read her new adult novels. ( )
