Utterly delightful to read aloud, and for parent and child to share, Edward Lear's humorous verses shine with irrepressible joy and rhythm. Filled with exuberantly nonsensical made-up words (like "Scroobius Pip" and "pobble"!) that tickle the funny bone, his work gives free rein to youthful imaginations. What better way to foster a love of poetry than the immediately appealing The Owl and the Pussy-Cat, with its effortless rhymes, song-like beat, and charming animal characters? Or The Quangle Wangle's Hat, which tells the tale of a creature who warmly welcomes everyone--and so makes everyone cheerful. This handsome volume of Edward Lear poems is now available in paperback - at a great price and with a bold new cover design - to bring the love of classic poetry to a broad new audience.… (més)

I thought that this was a cute poem that brought two unlikely animals together to teach students about friendship. They proved that nothing can get in the way of true friends. I could use this poem to analyze and teach students about poems, through a subject that would spark their interests. Media- Watercolor

I'm not sure if this would be my favorite poem to tell students, I found it to be somewhat interesting but you really have to be following in order to be able to keep up with the story. I think that for poems that are just for fun, such as this, it should be a little easier to follow and more for the fun. This poem follows the two bachelors as they try to find the sage that they wanted to put in their stew to eat a mouse, which is pretty gross too. This is a poem found in, a poem book by Edward Lear. Collection of stories and poems. There are nonsense words and silly rhymes that make reading it enjoyable.

Artwork is perfect for the content in style and substance. Since many of Lear's poems are nonsense, illustrations and ample introductions to each poem are helpful for sharing the delightful poems with children.

Loved it, especially The Scroobious Pip. I, however, seemed to have sprained my vocal cords trying to yell at the correct places in The Akond of Swat. ( )
