A competent view of the Japanese admiral’s life, and a good description of the IJN's operations until the man's death. Literate, and fairly well researched. ( ) 1302. Yamamoto: The Man Who Menaced America, by John Deane Potter (15 Nov 1974) Yamamoto was the chief Japanese admiral in World War II until his plane was shot down on April 18, 1943. He was born April 4, 1884. I found the book extremely interesting, even though it is footnoteless and rather poorly written. It tells quite a bit from the Japanese side, so it did not seem like old stuff. It is sobering to realize how badly the U.S. did in some of those Pacific battles. Midway is a fascinating battle, and I sure wouldn't want to be in it. But it would be something to be able to say one was in it. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya
