Lavinia's Cottage is a sweet book without a written story, but wander through this charming Victorian cottage and you will find one. Delightful discoveries are to be found behind cupboard doors or inside a trunk, some of those include a simple pop up. The final page is my favorite though, a full cottage pops up within a garden of flowers allowing you a view from every direction. ( )

Lavinia's Cottage, told entirely in pictures, is the story of two little girls who are taken to a country cottage to visit an ill friend who appears to have measles, so the wiseness of that decision is questionable. The three girl's explore the thatched roof cottage room by room and the pop-up and open-the flap surprises will keep the reader entertained for hours.

The book itself is well constructed, and has survived 28 years and three little girls with only a minor mishaps! ( )
