Wonder is about Auggie, a middle schooler with a face deformity, who is going to a new school, Beecher Prep for the first time. He meets those who accept him and those who bully him. The companion book takes a look at three of the characters and their relationship to Auggie. A major theme is friendship. The first section is Julian, the bully. Julian spent the summer with his grandmother who tells him a story of growing up in France during World War II. Through the story Julian realizes how he was wrong in his treatment of Auggie and he feels remorse. The second story is about Auggie’s best friend, Chris. Chris lives in another city and Auggie and he are not together as much as they used to be. The become closer again while doing homework and remembering past times. The third story is about Charlotte, who was Auggie’s welcome buddy when he first came to the school. Charlotte has lost her best friend to another more popular group of girls. Charlotte is chosen to be in a dance for Beecher Prep, that includes one of the more popular girls and they become friends. This is a great book for kids and adults alike. ( ![]() Well, this is are the stories of three characters that know and interact with Auggie Pulman. Those are the stories of Jullian, Chris & Charlotte. Well, I liked the Jullian & Chris' stories and a little lesser Charlotte's. Jullian's story is about him and his interaction with Auggie; you learn why he didn't go to the class field trip and why he changed school. I liked his grandmother's character a lot, Maybe because I miss my own grandmothers, but for sure, she is a character that shows Jullian that people should be handled as you expect them to handle you the same way. I love the grandmother's back story as well. (5 stars) Chris's or Christopher's story is also good because of the interaction we have between Chris & Auggie. You see how the friendship changes, but the bond is strong between those kids I really liked. Even the story is taking in Chris's school day; it also flashes back to old stories between Chris & Auggie. (5 stars) Charlotte's story is something different. It doesn't have much interaction between Charlotte & Auggie; it is about Charlotte and her friendship with Summer Ximena. How she interacts with all the groups and how she knows with each group she has to act. She always neutral on the class conflicts, and she doesn't want to take part. Well was the least favorite story of the book. Even though I was not too fond of the story, I like the friendship bonds between Charlotte, Summer, and Ximena. (3 stars) Well, the correct start points for this book is 4.333333333 I loved continuing the story of Auggie Pullman in this book. It was interesting to see the viewpoints of three important characters from the original book. I found it to be challenging to see their views in the first book until this came out. I felt I understood the other characters more through the words of these three stories. Wonder was a book that my sons very much enjoyed - a good read for a fifth grader. Auggie and Me has three short stories. My son and I agree that the first two stories, The Julien Chapter and Pluto, were very good. The third short story was geared more for girls (in our opinion). It was fun to read short stories with my son especially about characters we already knew. "Auggie and Me" gives three new perspectives about Auggie's story from "Wonder." In this book we learn more about Charlotte, Julian, and Christopher. Told through each character's point of view, each character reveals more about his/her experience during Auggie's first year of school, in addition to learning more about him/her as a character. We gain some empathy for Julian, as we learn more about his past and the effects on him of Auggie's admittance to the school. Christopher, Auggie's first friend, reveals more about Auggie's past and what it was like to be friends with August. We also see him struggle with wanting to be friends with August while not risking his other friendships because of August. Charlotte tells us of her appointment as a student who is charged with introducing Auggie to his new school, in addition to her social life non-relating to August.
