Apunta't a LibraryThing per saber si aquest llibre et pot agradar. No hi ha cap discussió a Converses sobre aquesta obra. I love this author's other books, but this one didn't enthrall me. It wasn't as funny, romantic or sexy as her other books. It felt rehashed, and the characters didn't have the usual redeeming features. The story skipped too fast, too - one minute the heroine's a total skeptic, the next she's just going with it, without any showing of her thought processes. It was blah. An ok read but not what I want really. This is my first Katie McAlister book, though my best friend has been trying to get me to read her stuff for ages. As far as paranormal romances go, it wasn't bad. The basic storyline (about the otherworld of angels, graces, and nephilim) was really fascinating, and I'd love to see more stories set in (and focusing more on) this world. The main character was an interesting change from the usual romance heroine; she's a physicist, and it was fun to see a completely pragmatic, logical person struggle to deal with the completely unnatural things happening to her.The love story progressed way too quickly for my taste, but that's my usual complaint about romances. I like seeing a relationship develop; the whole love-at-first-sight, soul mates stuff makes me cringe. Some of the dialogue made me groan, too. The heroine says things like "good gravy!" and frankly, I've never heard anyone under the age of 60 use some of these phrases. Kinda cheesy, IMO.But this is a cute book, though it's not one I intend to read again. I picked this book up for a dime at a garage sale early this summer. I finally decided to give it a go. I waited graciously for midnight so I could start reading it for NOV Challenges. Wow, I was surprised. I really enjoyed the book but I was also into the science part of it. The idea of not asking questions when something weird happens just doesn't seem like a good idea. Anyway the book was well worth the dime! Picked this up for a side-project of mine that required some dubious romance writing as inspiration. It turned out to be more entertaining and less smutty that I'd expected -- not so good for the project, but great as a way to spend an afternoon! I wanted to smack the heroine quite a few times (how can a girl who claims she's all about the logic be so steadfastly airheaded?!), but the plot, politics, world and humour made it worth a read, and even worth a recommendation to a friend who'll be highly amused. Eh. There is only so much skepticism I can take in PNR before it becomes annoying. This book really went over my limit and I have to DNF.
