This book is mind blowing good. Read the summary to know what it is about. I will say the writing isn't great literature, but the story, plotting, character development, and action is completely engrossing. Now I have to wait almost a year in anticipation for the second book. This is why I don't like to read new books! If you can get the audiobook (which we have in WVREADS), then you are in for an even better experience. The whole book is a collection of files, with interviews, recordings or diary entries. The audio production used several people to do the different characters with accents, stutters and such. One of the best audiobooks I have heard produced, and I have listened to over 200. If any of this sounds appealing to the reader in you, than read this book. It may be sold as sci-fi, but don't let that deter you. I guarantee you will love it. Easily my favorite book I have read this year. It hooked from the beginning and never let go. The story unfolded like an intricate piece of origami. I love books that won't let me go. Constantly pulling me back into reading them. The story style might put some people but I loved it. It allowed bits and pieces of the plot to leak out. Giving you just enough of the story to make you ask more questions. A very quick read and a bang up end that had me cursing the long wait ahead for the second book. This book popped up as a recommendation for me here on Goodreads and seemed interesting so I put it on my "to read" list. I later saw that it was nominated for best science fiction for 2016 so I moved it to the top of my list and good thing that I did. I really enjoyed reading this book. The way it was written (sort of like many interviews with a mysterious person) made the reading even more enjoyable than it would've been had it been written from the point of view of one of the characters (at least in my opinion). I just finished it and as soon as I finish this review I'm going on Amazon to order the sequel. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya

"17 years ago: A girl in South Dakota falls through the earth, then wakes up dozens of feet below ground on the palm of what seems to be a giant metal hand. Today: She is a top-level physicist leading a team of people to understand exactly what that hand is, where it came from, and what it portends for humanity. A swift and spellbinding tale told almost exclusively through transcriptions of interviews conducted by a mysterious and unnamed character, this is a unique debut that describes a hunt for truth, power, and giant body parts"-- No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |

I wish it was a stand alone instead of the first in a series because I'm not sure I care enough about anybody in the story to continue even though the idea of investigating alien technology on earth and the political ramifications of such an undertaking are something I'd like to read more about. ( )
