Twenty years ago, Malcolm Whiteley, the owner of Dungeon house was convinced that his wife was having an affair. After throwing a lavish party he kills his wife and child in a drunken rage. Forward to present day where the daughters of two of Malcolm Whiteley's party guests have disappeared, one in present day and one three years ago. Enter Hannah Scarlett the DCI determined to find the girl who just went missing. The return of Joanne Footit, a friend of Malcolm's daughter, stirs up old secrets and puts her and Hannah in danger. Well written with lively main and secondary characters and a vivid setting, this is an enjoyable mystery. Although it is part of a series, this book can be read as a stand-alone. The magnificent Dungeon House and gardens overlook Cumbria's remote western coast with its mix of beaches, dunes, and fells, Roman ruins, and nuclear plant. Twenty years ago the wealthy Whiteleys called it home. But not a happy one. Malcolm Whiteley had begun to disintegrate under financial and emotional pressures. He suspected various men in their social circle of being his wife's lover. No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |
