Not a bad book as an introduction to mindfulness. I don't quite remember what drew me to the book, but I think it was the general idea of living mindfully across all areas of life: at work, in interpersonal relationships, etc. So this seemed like a good book. I find a lot of books about mindfulness, meditation, etc. inaccessible to me. Quite often there comes a point where I think the author is talking total bunk and it's not something I can really accept. So I thought maybe this might be something more approachable.

And it is. The author starts off well, with simple explanations and exercises to get the reader used to the idea. But as other reviewers said, it becomes repetitive. We see this across various topics, sex/relationships, at work, etc. Maybe someone who is completely new to mindfulness might need some guidance for how it can apply to different situations, but for me I was hoping there would be more to it.

Unlike other reviewers, I didn't find the author's personal experiences particularly helpful. There might be some guidance or insight for those who come from similar backgrounds, but in all honesty the author bored me to tears whenever she talked about herself, sorry.

It's a relatively short book, so it wasn't a slow read in terms of length. In terms of interest though, I found it repetitive and boring. This might be a better fit for someone else though who is looking to apply mindfulness to their every day lives and needs something like this.

That said, I'd borrow it from the library and wouldn't buy it. ( )
