" In Apalachicola, Florida, sinister things are afoot, as sinister things tend to be. Lt. Maggie Redmond is called to a crime scene on St. George Island, where she is met with the body of Gregory Boudreaux. The medical examiner calls it a suicide, but no one knows that Maggie has a horrible connection to the dead man. When Gregoryâ??s uncle, Bennett Boudreaux, the richest and scariest man in town, takes a sudden interest in Maggie, people start to wonder, Maggie included. Maggie knows he may suspect her of killing his nephew, but she finds herself slowly drawn to the man. As Maggie fights to help a young girl escape the clutches of a volatile drug dealer whoâ??d love to see Maggie dead, she also struggles to hide her dark link to a dead man, and her burgeoning relationship with her boss, Sheriff Wyatt Hamilton. Low Tide by Dawn Lee McKenna
Book starts out with a man on the beach and the detective who is covering the case trying to solve it by the clues left behind.
Maggie has children and an ex husband and a boss Wyatt who also pitches in. They follow many leads and it brings up the past, events that occurred that she still suffers with nightly nightmares about.
Like how the story goes, clues are a bit dismal but other things come to light Didn't care how the book ends Riptide the next book in the series is metnioned.
Was nothing really special about this for me. ( )

Fun and easy read with engaging characters, but felt incomplete. Appears that this is the first part of an overall story arc that is continued in next 3 book of the series. ( )
