Love triangle. it was about 60% into the book when she finally dumps the fiancé but they still don't have smooth sailing. There were times when I was more interested in the case than the back and forth between Vin and Jill. But, I was into it enough to finish it so that says something. Full review will be On the Blog ( ) So we are back with my new favorite cop family; The Moretti's! And I'm super excited to jump back in all the craziness! Especially with Nonna. Detective Vincent Moretti is the surliest member of the Moretti family. When most of his communications tend to be through scowls and grunting it is honestly amazing that anyone out side of the family can put up with him. But his partner of 6 years Jill Henley, is the one person that was always by his side…mainly because she is the only one that can put up with him. But Vin is not as gruff as he comes across, he is shy and doesn't know how to express his feelings, but after missing Jill for the past 3 months, while she has been in Florida taking care of her mother, Vin has finally decided to take a step towards expressing his tightly kept feeling by asking Jill on a date. But when Jill comes home engaged to another man, Vin feels confused by his own hurt emotions. Despite what is going on in their personal lives, Vin and Jill have a murder to solve, but will Vin be able to get through the case and Jill's engagement and not reveal how he feels? I am going to start by saying …I really loved this book! I love the family, the characters! The plot! Simply everything about this book is delicious. I loved Vin's character so much! His shyness makes him just so endearing to me. I struggled a little with Jill's character a couple of moments in the book, but I did love the way the author made the characters realize their flaws; without that I honestly don't this that this book or this series should be as amazing as it is! I only have one retreat with this whole series, that I didn't discover this series till book 2! But I'm thrilled I found it and I honestly can't wait for the next book in the series. So let's get the the basics of this book, the writing, plot and characters are fantastic and as far as I can see it is without plot holes and smooth to read. I give Cuff Me 5 stars! I loved this book! It was definitely my favorite in the series so far. There is just something about Vincent and Jill that just makes my heart melt a little bit. They were meant to be with each other but they have to figure out how to make that happen. While this book is the third installment in the New York's Finest series, it can easily be read as a stand alone. Vincent and Jill have appeared in the earlier books in the series but I didn't really feel like I knew them until spending time with them in this book. The characters in this story were amazing. Seeing the characters from the previous books was great but I just loved everything about Jill and Vincent. They are both detectives in the New York Police Department and have been paired up for the past six years. Jill considers herself to be an adopted member of the Morelli clan and the pair have a great working relationship and easy friendship. Jill just felt so alive in this story. She had a lot to give and had decided to try to find some happiness by getting engaged. Her fiance, Tom, is a genuinely good guy but their relationship lacks some of the magic she is looking for. Vincent is incredibly guarded. He has never had a serious relationship and doesn't take chances with his heart. When he finds out that Jill is engaged, he realizes exactly what she means to him. Watching him learn how to open up to Jill was heartbreaking at times because I could really feel how hard everything was for him. I was so glad that Jill was as patient and kind as she was with him and they really proved to be a wonderful couple with a whole lot of chemistry. The case that Vincent and Jill were working on was incredibly interesting as well. An elderly actress falls to her death and there are no leads. It was nice to watch the pair work together because it was almost magical how well they complemented each other. I thought it was fitting that the case they were working on caused them a lot of difficulty to match the turmoil in their personal lives. The eventual resolution of the case was very well done. I would highly recommend this book to fans of contemporary romance. I am a huge fan of Lauren Layne's writing and this book is an excellent example of her writing. I plan to continue reading Lauren Layne's work and have my fingers crossed that we will see more of the Morelli's soon. I received an advance reader edition of this book from Forever - Grand Central Publishing via NetGalley for the purpose of providing an honest review. This review can also be found at Carole's Random Life. http://carolesrandomlife.blogspot.com/ The third in the Moretti brothers series, featuring Vincent and his partner Jill. Their romance had been set up pretty heavy-handedly in the earlier stories and I thought this one started well, with Jill returning from nursing her mother for three months and Vincent having missed her. But things got confusing pretty quickly: Vincent has barely contacted her for the last three months, yet claims towards the end that he was planning to ask her on a date. This is despite the fact that we are told elsewhere that he only sleeps with women on a very superficial basis (and is upfront with them about this): how can he date his partner on that basis? Or is it true love? Except that we are told that he can't love anyone because he has never felt loved (except of course by his very loving large family). Then there was Jill, who got engaged after three months and quickly got cold feet, but who failed to tell anyone for about three weeks once the engagement was called off? Why? Why? There were moments I liked: for example when Vincent makes a special meal for Jill and she doesn't notice, and when Vincent punches Tom thinking he is cheating on Jill. But, on the whole I thought it was messy: the engagement dilemma goes on for far too long, the murder case they are trying to solve is boring and again goes on far too long, the trip to California was entirely redundant apart from introducing us to Marc and his girlfriend, characters we hear no more about. Once Jill and Vincent get together, their misunderstandings seem to increase and Jill, who is supposed to be a ray of sunshine, becomes moody and irrational. Unconvincing and poorly plotted. I just can't not love a Lauren Layne novel. My feelings for Cuff Me followed suite. After reading Steal Me, book two, I was really excited to read Vincent and Jill's story. I really loved Jill and I liked her the whole time. Vin on the other hand, he was a piece of work, in a hot and book-sexy way of course. He was one hot detective with one hell of a problem: being in love with your partner without even knowing it. I really loved their chemistry, and I while I got a little frustrated with how long it took them to FINALLY hook up, I still loved the book. And the group of characters in this series is wonderful and I really hope, this isn't the end of the series. There are two more Moretti siblings that need to find love.
