Amber is alive. After so much time and effort spent looking for her, Joe finds her and brings her beaten body to Reeve's ranch where she can get medical aid, rest, and protection. They all realize that Amber is still in danger when a stray dog that has started making the ranch his home is killed and left with the words "Shes Mine" carved into its body. While Amber recuperates, Emily begins to doubt her relationship with Reeve because he loved Amber first. Until she is briefly abducted by the Reeve's uncle, Emily doesn't believe that she is in any danger, but after, it is clear that she needs Reeve's protection as much as Amber does.

The Last Kiss continues the tension of First Touch, but doesn't maintain the level of intensity of the the first book. Emily's doubts become annoying and Joe, Reeve, and Amber devolve into very two dimensional characters. The suspense of the story focuses more on the love triangle and less on the mystery of Reeve's uncle or Reeve's involvement with the mob, while the ending could have been so much better. Descriptions of the story settings are intriguing, but are not enough to save this book from being less than it could have been. Overall, a disappointment. ( )

I was really excited to pick this one up! Given the ending of First Touch, I was dying to know what happens next!

I found this novel moved fast, in an addicting, I-need-to-know-what's-next kind of way. Seeing everything unfold was a well worth it and kept me motivated to read. I would have finished this book in one sitting if life wasn't in the way!

I felt like everything was on point with this novel. The character development was stronger, the relationships with characters as well as the plot in general were at their peak. Combined, they all kept me on my toes trying to figure out what really happened to Amber and company.

What held me back from a 5/5 was the romance in this one. While I loved the sexual tension, the BDSM style of Reeve and Emily's relationship really had me concerned. Definitely seemed more unhealthy to me than previously but eventually it was expanded upon in a way that satisfied me. However, I do think some people will not enjoy their relationship despite the great dramatic plot.

Overall, it was a fantastic way to wrap up this duology and I can't wait for the next Laurelin Paige novel!

Danger is definitely near, but it's unclear who Emily should really fear. Her submissive personality begs for others to control her. She's surrounded by people, some of which she loves and wants to trust, and others are near who seem to be the enemy. While everyone is trying to sort out safety and guilt, she's also having a moral dilemma. Her goal has always been to save Amber, but now she's fallen for Reeve. Amber has been the director of Emily's life since she was 16. Reeve gives her the dominance and command she needs. Is she capable of not submitting to either? She has loads of doubts and concerns, but is she even strong enough to look at things intelligently?

I couldn't put this book down because I had to know the answers. Thankfully, everything comes out, but the journey is murky and angst-filled. Several scenes made me nervous as to which way they would turn out. I knew who I thought was behind everything, but the author does a good job of adding bits to throw Emily and the reader off solid ground. I have to mention the sexy factor. It's quite steamy starring Reeve as the perfect lover to Emily. If you read the first book, you already know that this one is a must read.

4.5 "Who do you Trust" Stars! Jumping right in to where the stunning conclusion of First Touch left off, Last Kiss continues the sensual and thrilling romantic suspense ride that started in the first book of this duet.

Please note that First Touch must be read first and the below review contains spoilers for the first book, so please read my review for First Touch, if you have not yet started this series.

Emily Wayborn's trust will be challenged to the core when she discovers herself in one of the most untenable of situations. Amber, her best friend, and boyfriend's former lover who he wanted to marry, is back from the dead. A woman she has shared men with before, but having found the one who completes and dominates her in all the right ways, she is no longer willing to share. But old habits die hard, and Amber is just as determined to win her prize.

I loved how this story kept you guessing almost to the very end. Moreover the relationship both between Emily and Reeve and Emily and Amber is truly palpable and leaves you conflicted but longing for a particular resolution.

Lovers of red hot passion scenes with a dominant and sub theme will definitely not want to miss this duet. Moreover Amber and Emily's complicated history and friendship further make this a unique story. Ms. Paige is a truly talented writer to be able to intermix all these themes, and I can't wait to read more of her writing.
