Warning: Contains spoilers for the previous book in the series, Divine by Mistake Shannon Parker has been magically traded with her "mirror image" in the mystical land of Partholon, Rhiannon, Goddess Incarnate of Epona. She has cemented her position as the true chosen by defeating the evil Formorians and marrying the centuar High Shaman ClanFintan. She is happy with her life and joyfully expecting a daughter. Unfortunately, she is unceremoniously pulled back to her original world by ClanFintan's mirror image, Clint Freeman who has been abused by the evil Rhiannon and thinks he's rescuing Shannon from a hell dimension. Rhiannon is creating all kinds of trouble in our world, trying to amass power and calling dangerous entities from the Dark Side. Shannon has to defeat Rhiannon and find a way to get back to Parthalon. Shannon's story is compelling and fast-paced. The magical elements are logical and fascinating. Shannon is a vibrantly flawed character and as such very genuine and relatable. Shannon's dad and Clint are good characters as well. I was looking forward to finding out what kind of havoc Rhiannon was wreaking in our world and glad Shannon got to visit her dad again. Recommended for fans of fantasy, paranormal romance, and YA. Another excellent book! However, I don't understand why the Partholon books aren't numbered differently. I would have first read the three divine books (divine by mistake, divine by choice and divine by blood) before reading Elphame's Choice and Brighid's Quest. Anyway, the stories are great, and I love Rhea, she's excellent, funny, intelligent, strong and goofy. I am caught between giving this either three or four stars. It was good but it was not amazing. I do love the writing style in these books- it's really simple and flows really well. It makes the books a pleasure to read. However, I didn't like the fact that I was over one hundred pages into the book before the events from the description began happening. I felt like I was spending too long waiting for the actual story to begin. Once back in her own world, I felt Shannon made a lot of questionable choices and it really turned me against her as a character. In the last book, she was a quite determined and loyal person but she seemed very different in this one. The story itself was good and interesting and I enjoyed getting to find out a bit more about Rhiannon. In general, it was a good book but Shannon began to irritate me, especially towards the end.
