This is a simplified version of the story of The Statue of Liberty. It tells the present of the statue from France to America. This book describes for kids how Frederic Bartholdi designed and created the Statue of Liberty. It also tells of its journey to American and how it was built once in America. It is filled with some facts, but also feels a bit like fiction due to the simplified retelling of the people and events. Kids could get a small feel for the people and places due to the illustrations. I would recommend this book for 1st graders.

Good, interesting early reader! Just the right amount of information for a child who's learning to read. This was my son's pick, he was both excited and proud to read it to us. This is short story of The Statue of Liberty. It tells how it made, who made, and how they got it to America. It tells how people from all over the world came to America in order for freedom. It tells how the statue is a symbol of freedom.

I read this the second grade class of the school I work in. It was a new experience for me, considering I usually deal with 4-5 year old children. They had lots of questions about where the people came from, and one little boy asked who drove the boat. It was a fun experience.

An extension could be to make a puppet of The Statue of Liberty.
