No hi ha cap discussió a Converses sobre aquesta obra. This is going to stay in my mind for a long time. Oh my goodness, such awful writing. Let me start with a naked truth. There are very few books that make me cry and connect with its characters even flawed. Colleen Hoover is a master of storytelling. Her characters are broken, flawed, grey and believable. A must read and it certainly has lived upto the hype it has created. A beautiful love story after a very long time. In general I don't read romance novels. I read many in my teens and filled my quota in that category. Now, I like some romance thrown into historical novels, mysteries, contemporary novels but not books just about hooking up. But I saw the reviews for this book and decided to try it. Another reason for reading a romance novel is because I needed some very light reading material to keep me sane. (This book's subject was 'light' in any way). But... the book had a few too many platitudes in it, i.e. 'people aren't bad, just people who have done bad things.' And of course, most of the characters are stunning. I also found it hard to believe how Ryle could turn from AMAZING to CRAZY DANGEROUS in minutes. It Ends With Us is an okay read with an urgent message. I believe it needs more 'meat,' depth to it.
Such an amazing book. Colleen Hoover never disappoints. It Ends With Us is a story of abuse. So many have fallen victims of their spouses abusing them physically. We all wonder why they never leave. Colleen Hoover tells us in It Ends With Us and also that we do not have to suffer because of love. We all deserve much more. Read the book to know how and why people should leave abusive homes even when we are already deep in love. Thanks to the author. Such a book to make your day.
"The newest, highly anticipated novel from beloved #1 New York Times bestselling author, Colleen Hoover. Sometimes it is the one who loves you who hurts you the most. Lily hasn't always had it easy, but that's never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She's come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up--she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily's life suddenly seems almost too good to be true. Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He's also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn't hurt. Lily can't get him out of her head. But Ryle's complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his "no dating" rule, she can't help but wonder what made him that way in the first place. As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan--her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened. With this bold and deeply personal novel, Colleen Hoover delivers a heart-wrenching story that breaks exciting new ground for her as a writer. Combining a captivating romance with a cast of all-too-human characters, It Ends With Us is an unforgettable tale of love that comes at the ultimate price"-- No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |

Though this sounds like your typical romance, it's not. There's a lot more going on here. I'm trying not to let the hype of this book influence my review, but it's hard when at the current moment, Colleen Hoover's books are everywhere. Ultimately, I'm waffling between the 4 and 4.5 star range. This was my first read of Hoover's, though I've been familiar with her name for a long time. But in all honesty, I probably would not have picked up one of her books had her popularity not soared recently. I was curious about the hype and this one crossed the radar of one of my book clubs, so here we are. Did I enjoy it? Yes. I thought it was well-written and at the same time very easy to read. It packs an emotional punch and lends to good discussion with its challenging subject matter. Some good quotes in there too, which I wish I would've highlighted. I will probably read more Colleen Hoover, though I'm not going to race out and read them all back-to-back. Verity was already on my TBR list, so I may bump that one up. (
