His Lover to Protect by Katee RobertMy rating: 3 of 5 starsAnger, acceptance and healing. All three played a major role in the relationship between Alexis and Luke. Life had dealt each a crushing blow. Now they had to learn to face their limitations and conquer their fears. His Lover to Protect is a moving and inspirational story. My main issue with this novel however is that the relationship between Luke and Alexis developed far to rapidly. Alexis Yeung's life seems worthless at this point. The cancer that has left her barren also caused a broken engagement and half a family that holds her responsible for being unable to bear children. So she has to "runaway" on a soul searching journey of self discovery, to find purpose to her life once again.

Former para-rescuer and loner, Luke Jackson is tailing her undercover, at the behest of her sister and his friend. While keeping an eye on her, they strike up and "un"easy friendship that has each questioning their feelings for the other and considering a possible future. Bitter with life and scarred by their pasts, they find each other to be kindred souls. But if Alexis discovers who he really is, that might be enough to push them further into isolating themselves from the people who love them and further apart from each other.

Excellent fun, sexy read! Katee Robert is one of my must read authors and she doesn't disappoint with this book. Continuing the Out of Uniform series, this book centers around Alexis Yeung and Luke Jackson. Alexis is damaged. After her life has taken one bad turn after another, she just needs to get away, so she's backpacking around Europe. Luke Jackson has been sent to Europe to keep an eye on Alexis but he can't let her find out why he's there. When their attraction turns into a sizzling boil, Luke is sure he needs her in his life. But if she finds out who he really is and why he's in Europe she'll have nothing to do with him.
