The Internet as we know it is great for collaboration and communication, but is deeply flawed when it comes to commerce and privacy. The new blockchain technology facilitates peer-to-peer transactions without any intermediary such as a bank or governing body. Keeping the user's information anonymous, the blockchain validates and keeps a permanent public record of all transactions. That means that your personal information is private and secure, while all activity is transparent and incorruptible--reconciled by mass collaboration and stored in code on a digital ledger. The blockchain is revolutionary. This book however is nothing but pointless speculation about how awesome the future will be. Let's hope so. This book could help by maybe explaining the technology or telling the history of various projects, describing different systems available now. Instead it's just constant bombastic predictions and general exuberant excitement. ( )

This is a primer of what Blockchain can potentially do. It's pretty good for someone who wants to get his/her feet wet.

Emphasis on honesty, consideration, accountability and transparency for a successful business resonated well with me. The section on Proof of Work was crystal clear as well.

Portions of the book seem idealistic, but we'll need to wait and watch to see how far Blockchain can revolutionize our world. ( )

Ungrounded utopian technobabble. No technical explanation of Blockchain. Mostly about Bitcoin; a bunch of cybercurrency scenarios without any serious analysis or scepticism. I just skimmed it because I rapidly realised you could replace "Blockchain" with "magic box" and have exactly the same book. ( )
