This is a sweet collection of letters sent by the lovelorn to the heroine of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. It is accompanied by beautiful pictures and photographs detailing the history of the love crossed pair. The narrative explains how the legend of Juliet developed and her tomb became a pilgrimage site for lovers. The legion of Juliet's secretaries who respond to the missives have quite the task as advice seekers write from all over the world. The edition is very well made and great for gift giving. ( ) This beautifully written book is a testimony to the enduring love of the star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet. Having taught the play many times, it was enjoyable to read a bit about the history of the letter-writing phenomenon and learn about some of the places in Verona that have been associated with the play. The Novel, Letters to juliet, encompasses the theme of following your heart because it can lead to finding your one true love. In the beginning, Sophie , the protaganist struggles with having a happy vacation as her fiance, Victor, is only focused on his carreer as a chef. She explores Verona, Italy and finds an interesting wall with several letters asking "Juliet" for advice on love. She finds out that there was a hidden letter inbetween the rocks and decides to write back to it after asking the group who writes back to all of the letters approve. Throughout the middle he/she preserves by going on a journey to find the woman named, Claire, who wrote the letter to her love , Lorenzo Batolini, but he never wrote back. Along the way meeting Claire's grandson, Charlie, and together, they slowly create disliking feelings for eachother. By the end he/she has learned that true love can be found anywhere at anytime and by helping Claire find her true love she noticed that her true love was Charlie.
